Today was rather low-key, got to enjoy sleeping in & took a nice afternoon nap. It feels nice to catch up on some much needed sleep. So bummed I don't get tomorrow off, was hoping to meet up with the fencing club & get some fencing in. But alas, that's not the case. (T⌓T)

Last weekend was pretty fun, I attended a local con & dressed up as Wicked/Black Lady from Sailor Moon. I went with family & friends. Although I did enjoy going, I do miss going to small cons, the vibes at the smaller cons are more intimate. Big cons just feel very corporate, I didn't spend that much time in dealer's hall. Mostly hung out in Artist Alley & attended a vtuber panel. It was also incredibly crammed, which I anticipated because it was a Saturday. I was also really hoping to find Love & Deepspace merch or cosplayers. I found neither.(iДi)I was rather surprised, I thought I'd find it since it's pretty popular. Or popular in a certain space, I suppose. I was also hoping to do some dancing at an AMV dance party but when I showed up people were just sitting on the dance floor? The music was pretty decent, so I was briefly let down again. I did get to do some karaoke that evening, which was fun & some folks really turned it up & got into character. Also witnessed some hysterical shenanigans with the crew, we'll never forget it. After the con, we ate out & talked. Overall, it was a good day. I do need to look for more small cons to attend, I really miss going.

Valentine's day was pretty nice, a few folks gifted me flowers & chocolate. That was pretty sweet, I wasn't expecting much lol. ʕ♡˙ᴥ˙♡ʔ I also got to play some Love & Deepspace, the event was pretty fun, I feel like they could've pushed the edge more but it was fine. I'll just have to write it myself. ໒(⊙ᴗ⊙)७✎▤ Speaking of writing, I'm almost done with that SilverV chapter. I feel it this time. I may have written more than anticipated but I hope to be done soon. And then I can finally catch up. I also want to write some Love & Deepspace fics. I only have vague ideas for two, so I need to make some outlines & jot things down before I press the big red button. I also started drawing again, it felt nice to draw for a change.

Peace out! (>‿◠)✌

I'm glad you had a good time, even if there were a couple small letdowns!

I really enjoyed our big con in the area here when I was a teen/early 20s, but I feel like it's probably gotten too big for me to have as much fun anymore. It sounds like it's just kept getting bigger and bigger. (Not to the scale of something like Comicon or DragonCon or anything, but sort of a destination con for a lot of people in surrounding states now.) The small ones were always a lot of fun, even when they had a handful of issues. (Like the hotel double-booking the con and a wedding, or AV issues with some of the panel rooms, or things like that.) It makes me feel very nostalgic.

Bigger cons are exciting in their own way, but like... the last year I went to NDK here, I remember having to skip a lot of things I wanted to do, because you had to line up hours in advance to get into some of the popular events. So if you wanted to go to the AMV contest (which was my favorite, ha) then you basically couldn't do anything else for that entire day, because you needed to be in line to make sure you got in. Same with the most popular panels and things.

The community vibe of smaller cons is definitely one of the best parts!

The wedding thing was pretty funny... I think they started off being annoyed, and then they made the best of it and took a bunch of photos with cosplayers and stuff, and it seemed like they eventually found it pretty fun. They did have to rearrange some of the con stuff, because they'd double-booked one of the ballrooms. It definitely made for some entertaining vibes!

But it's true... very nostalgic for things that just can't really exist in the same way anymore. It's very bittersweet.

It is a shame to have to miss out on a lot of the con itself in order to do a couple of the specific things you wanted to do. I always loved the AMV contests! Lots of fun creativity.
Oh, oof. I'd forgotten about panels or events that have an extra upcharge! With con prices already being what they are, having to pay extra for events within the con feels so unfair!

It was quite funny, and I was glad that no one ended up being genuinely upset in the end. Haha, I can see that mix being a funny one, too! While I can imagine there being some crossover interest between the BDSM crowd and the congoers, I'm sure there were plenty of people for whom it was a bit of a strange look into a different subculture, haha.

Same here. I'm glad I got to do it when I had the chance to, and that I have a lot of good memories from those years.

That's exactly it! When I'm already at the event, it feels terribly unfair to have that FOMO sense. (I know a big enough event will always require you to make choices between the different things to go do, but it's rough to feel like you have to weigh the one thing you most want to do against basically anything else on offer.) And ugh, seriously about the upcharges. It used to be very few things required an extra fee, and now it seems like almost everything does! A bummer.
