SAMURAI

Yes, the long awaited SAMURAI piece is here! I actually finished this a few weeks back, but I was on the art grind. (ง'̀-'́)ง This illustration was a fun challenge. It was my first time drawing five people in one illustration. Coordinating that and trying to make them not seem stiff was troublesome, lol. I still think some of them look stiff but practice makes perfect. I'll get that down eventually. The background also gave me a hard time, that's something else I want to improve on this year. I'm not 100% satisfied with it, but I did learn quite a bit and incorporated that into the next piece, which I felt helped it.

I based this illustration off one of the No Doubt photo shoots, I love fun band shoots and wanted to do that for SAMURAI because I find that kind of fan content lacking. So I must will it into existence, lol. ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ I'm also currently working on another one that's based off of Alice In Chains. That one's kinda goofy. Working on their expressions has been a treat. Although for that one, it's gonna be one member short because I couldn't figure out how to incorporate her into the piece. I feel like these fun challenges will pay off, I experiment and learn something new each time. ⸂⸂⸜(രᴗര๑)⸝⸃⸃

Yepp, more Johnny Silverhand. I loved his alternate outfit and could not resist the urge to draw him in it. I had to repaint this piece a few times b/c there was a certain look I was going for. I had definitely overworked certain areas in the previous attempt. So I'm glad that I took the time to pause and simplify those areas. Although, I feel that I only partially succeeded with this one. It's not quite how I envisioned it to be but it is a step closer. So for now, I'll settle, but I'll be back with a vengeance. I definitely want to accomplish the original goal I had set out to do.

Started working on the Kerry sketch that will match this one. I hope to continue to learn with that one as well. I also sketched some headshots for the Hazbin Hotel cast, it's kinda fun to compare my art then and now. I feel like I definitely grew a lot. I started reading 36 Streets by T. R. Napper. I enjoy the setting but I haven't progressed too far in the story to comment on anything just yet. I just hope I can finish it by the due date, lol.

A young Johnny & Kerry! I had loads of fun drawing this piece. I loved drawing Kerry's mullet, he so totally rocked it. I'm slowly getting the hang of the tattoos. I had an easier time with Johnny's tatts though, had a breakthrough with his snake tattoo. I finally figured it out, lol. ᕙ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕗ Kerry's tatt's on the other hand, those are gonna take me a bit, especially his older (2077) self's tatts. Like yes, they look hella sick but they are also the bane of my existence. They always take more time to do. Perhaps, in the future I'll nail them since I can't help but feel the insane compulsion to keep drawing him, lol. (ಥ ͜ʖಥ)

Currently have two more CP2077 pieces sketched out, I wanna play around with colors and lighting. I also have plans to redraw some Hazbin Hotel headshots I did back in 2021, I think it'll be fun to compare how much has changed and I watched the series. Gah, I loved it. I love Sir Pentious and Lucifer, lmao. Ψ(ه’́⌣’̀ه ) Those two had me cackling.

"Here's Johnny~" Yepp, I drew this a**hole again. I have cp2077 brainrot. It can't be helped, so I may as well try to get it out of my system. But I feel like it's something I'll always come back to. The world just feels so lived in and the characters feel so fleshed out. I referenced one of the official artworks for this one, I wanted to study it. Practice working on backgrounds and lighting. Two areas I need to improve on. I got to experiment with brushes, trying to make the piece feel more tactile as well. Ended up have to re-do it a few times because I had imagined a certain feel to it. Although it didn't turn out perfect, I think it was a somewhat successful study. I still have lots to learn but it was a step in the right direction.

Still speed running through The Artist's Way, I'm still enjoying it, I find the introspective exercises really helpful. Some of the reading I find a bit redundant in my case. Like I know how to identify and work through my art blocks, I learned this from my own experiences and interactions with other artists in the community. In my case, my art block is when I feel dissatisfied with my art, like the proportions look all wonky and I don't like my current style. Usually that signals to me that I'm about to level up, so I have to push through the bad art to get to the good art. One artist I admire explained it as one's artistic eye becoming more keen but the muscles/skills haven't caught up yet. So when I'm reading it, I'm like yes, I already understand this but to someone else it may be new information so I definitely understand why it was included. It's still pretty helpful and offers some fun ideas.

Yes, more cyberpunk because I'm obsessed. lol. I really love how Rogue turned out, her hair was really fun to draw but I also have a thing for mohawks so yeah. I also really enjoyed painting Misty's make-up. Might want to do more pieces centered on these two. Their fashion styles are so iconic. Gotta work on Jackie though, he didn't turn out exactly how I wanted him to but I'm pretty proud of the progress I did make. Art is just a never-ending journey, which I'm really grateful to be on.

Also made some progress with the fic, I think I'm about to wrap up chapter three (like maybe a few pages away). I'm actually surprised I was able to write that much for it. Two more chapters to go before I can start posting it. Hope everyone has a fun New Year's Eve!

"Wake the f**k up, samurai. We have a city to burn." Drew the rocker boy and legend, Johnny Silverhand. He was a hoot to draw. I love this jackass. He's so snarky and charismatic. His chrome arm turned out a little off, gotta work on shading metallics. But I'm really proud with how the pants turned out lol. I also used a photo from when I was in Miami during 2017, I saturated it and made it all glitchy. It was my third attempt at trying to come up with a background and it was the attempt I was most content with.

Been working on chapter three of my fic. Started writing the spicier bits. It's been such a challenge because it's so far from my norm but the challenging elements also makes it fun. While writing it, I was jamming out to old school reggaeton. It's been such a long time since I listened to the stuff. Took me back.lol.
