Bigger cons are exciting in their own way, but like... the last year I went to NDK here, I remember having to skip a lot of things I wanted to do, because you had to line up hours in advance to get into some of the popular events. So if you wanted to go to the AMV contest (which was my favorite, ha) then you basically couldn't do anything else for that entire day, because you needed to be in line to make sure you got in. Same with the most popular panels and things.
The community vibe of smaller cons is definitely one of the best parts!
The wedding thing was pretty funny... I think they started off being annoyed, and then they made the best of it and took a bunch of photos with cosplayers and stuff, and it seemed like they eventually found it pretty fun. They did have to rearrange some of the con stuff, because they'd double-booked one of the ballrooms. It definitely made for some entertaining vibes!
But it's true... very nostalgic for things that just can't really exist in the same way anymore. It's very bittersweet.
